This is my first real update in a while and I apologize. If there was actually any news to tell you about, I would have told it. But up until this week there was no news. On Sunday of this week, I was finally able to get a ride to go to Grace Bible Chapel. Mr. Sutter called up the elders of this Assembly and told them that there was a young brother in need transportation and fellowship, and of course the brother would be me.

So a very happy elderly couple have offered to go out of there way to pick me on Sunday as long as I should need the help. So this last Sunday I finally made a return to the Assembly. I must say that the worship service with the Breaking of Bread was a sweet return to something I have missed for a while. In fact, I almost felt like I was in Belleville again. Of course the following services as well as the fellowship time and refreshments is not quite the same since I don’t really know anyone there yet. But by God’s grace, that will all change.

Ok, so this next piece of news is going to shock any of you who know about my strict eating, but the impossible has happened. I have decided that coffee is not unhealthy and I’ll go to my grave believing it. Sure, it has caffeine, this is true, but I started drinking some black Starbucks coffee before classes this week, and it has helped me to be more attentive in class. It also gives me a little time to read my Bible or listen to a Christian podcast or two. So that is definitely a positive effect of coffee. But as you expect, I do not allow any sugar or creamer in it, but perhaps some day I will try soymilk and honey and see how that tastes.

Another piece of news is I am making a new Christian friend, and that is all I will say about that for now.

My last bit of exciting news is my job hunt is seemingly over (for now). On Thursday I went in for an interview for a stocking and shipping department of a local business here, and later that day I was offered the job. It is a modest job, but it pays well enough to suit a thrifty college student, so unless God sends an even better job my way, I will start back to work next week. I start on this coming Thursday, so pray that it would go well for me. And the great thing is that it is a small independent business, so the hours are very flexible. This is a luxury I have come to appreciate from my previous boss and continued good friend, Huda.

So in conclusion, this may very well have been the best week of my life. It certainly sets some type of record for “quick positive turnaround from constant misfortune.” Please keep praying for me. It is helping much more than you realize. God bless, and I’ll try to post more often with shorter entry lengths from now on, but I make no promises.

I just read up on the good news, and it brings a smile to my face. I’m happy that things are picking up for you. I think you’re doing very well for someone having been uprooted from the country. Coffee has gotten a bad rap for years, but who are you going to believe? I too drink it black, straight up, and the only apparent side affect is a slight balding of the head, and near-sightedness. Just remember to drink it in moderation. Again, I’m glad to see things are looking up. Dan
