This past Thursday I finally graduated from Tech School. What does this mean exactly? It means that the Air Force has certified that I know enough about my job that I can now go to my first duty station (Scott AFB in my case) to receive even more training on completely different equipment which will be involved in my actual job. I can’t wait.
The graduation cerimony was short and formal. First we started by going through a couple practice rounds without the commander, then we did it for real once with the commander. The graduation itself was basically as follows, the commander comes up, asks people to introduce their guests if they brought any, then he commences to give us our certificates of training, and finally we receive some words of encouragement. That was basically it.
Even more exciting though, right after graduation I finally recieved my orders to go to Scott. I had thought I might be stuck here indefinitly because most of my other classmates had received their orders in the weeks prior to graduation. But me and two other classmates had our orders delayed because we needed Top Secret Clearances. But thankfully me and one of the other guys got them the day of graduation. So I get to leave Fort Gordon Monday morning, and I won’t look back. I’m going to California for about two weeks for a little break, then it’s straight to Scott.
Cool I guess I will see you soon. I have a TS clearance too : P
