Alaina and I spent our very first wedding anniversary at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. Alaina was having severe back pain Thursday morning, so she went to the doctor and they told her she had a urinary tract infection. The doctor gave her some antibiotics and sent her on her way. But when the pain was still just as bad on Saturday morning, we thought it might be something more serious.
Alaina went from the ER and was admitted to the OB floor, so they could make sure the baby was doing ok. Thankfully he was and still is! But Alaina is still in a lot of pain even as doctor’s are scrambling to figure out what to do to help her. Gall stones have been singled out as the culprit, but what we can do about it is still unclear. The doctors wanted to do more test before they would make a decision. So they transferred Alaina to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
When we got here, the docs had to reaccomplish some of the tests, so we have really made very little progress in the past 12 hours. All we know right now is surgery is the last option. We really hope they don’t need to resort to that, because we don’t want to put the baby in danger. Just keep Alaina and baby Jason in your prayers.
